Dismantling Perfection When It’s Time To Show Up
I’m learning that the whole notion of perfection when creating is antiquated and draining. This goes especially when working as a contractor for clients.
As those who are either refer to themselves as experts or are on their way there, this idea of perfection can be very prominent.
On one hand this concept sets those of us who identify as a service provider with a model or certain code of conduct. As a result we try to be the best in providing the client experience, in terms of customer service, using our set skill set to ease the client’s mind of unease, thus bringing in results to help them improve their business. This is some form or facet enables them to fulfill their bottom line.
I have been learning as a freelancer, that in as much as the code of conduct is important to ensure that one adheres to the proper principles when engaging with clients and prospects, the model of perfection is unattainable.
It is a good measure, one should aim to adhere to but it isn’t realistic. Aiming to carry it out breeds for much unnecessary, procrastination, over planning, over intellectualizing, and plainly just doing too much.
